G5 All Purpose Desensitizer is an aqueous, 5% glutaraldehyde-based desensitizer with 35% HEMA that eliminates post-operative sensitivity in Class I and II direct posterior restorations when used with 4th and 5th generation adhesives. It works by coagulating plasma proteins in the dentinal tubule fluid to form a plug that stops fluid movement, the root cause of dentinal sensitivity, and its glutaraldehyde/HEMA combination provides antibacterial action at the tooth-restoration interface. It also desensitizes roots and teeth under temporary crowns and bridges without adversely affecting the bond strength of resin cement to dentin. Supplied in a 5 mL bottle.
