An absorbable sterile surgical suture composed of purified connective tissue (mostly collagen) derived from either the serosal layer of beef (bovine) or the submucosal fibrous layer of sheep (ovine) intestines. Chromic gut is processed to provide greater resistance to absorption, and is packaged in tubing fluid. This suture features a CT-2 blunt taper point, 1/2 circle needle, and meets all U.S. Pharmacopeia (U.S.P.) requirements for absorbable surgical sutures.
