The classic and original way of sharpening an instrument is done using sharpening stones. Generally, these stones hone, lightly contour, and maintain sharpness. The two main types are Synthetic Stone, which contains aluminum oxide crystals, ideal for reconditioning or recontouring and maintenance sharpening; Ceramic Stone, which is a hard synthetic stone, for routine sharpening of dental instruments. Sharpening stones are easy and convenient to use. Use oil for lubrication.
